Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At just 24 weeks and 3 days, on 5th November 2009, Ethan Matthew Binns entered the world weighing just 1lb10. He was taken to Intensive Care within The Peter Congdon Neonatal Unit at Leeds General Infirmary where the doctors and nurses worked tirelessly to help save his life.
In early February 2010, devastatingly, Ethan was diagnosed as being terminally ill, having suffered catastrophic brain damage from a bowel disease he had contracted a few weeks earlier. After this terrible news and several months in the Neo-natal unit at LGI, the three of us moved to Martin House Children’s Hospice were we could finally live like a family. Our time was spent making treasured memories (and having sleepless nights!) and caring for our little man 24 hours a day, before Ethan sadly passed away on 20th February. Martin House made the last few days we had with Ethan so very special and for that we will always be eternally grateful. Martin House is a beautiful and peaceful place for children with life limiting illnesses and their families to stay, and the support that is offered is simply brilliant, making the very worst of situations just about manageable. Martin House only receives 5% government funding, and with an annual cost of £4million, the task of fund raising is tireless. In memory of our little man, Russell and I with several close friends and family, will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 30th May 2010 to help Martin House raise funds for this most worthy of causes. We would be very grateful if you could sponsor us for this challenge. Thank you so much. Sarah, Russell and the memory of Ethan.Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
