WaterAid is an international non-profit with one goal: to change the world through water. Along with decent toilets and good hygiene, a reliable supply of clean water is essential for health, dignity and a life full of opportunity.

Story

On the 18th of June 2011, I am taking a flight to Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia, with my bike. I'll then be spending the summer pedalling my way over 3000 miles back through Europe.

I'm using this oppurtunity to raise money for the charity Water Aid (http://www.wateraid.org/uk/ ). Water Aid is an international non governmental organisation focused exclusively on improving poor people’s access to safe water and sanitation. WaterAid works in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region and campaigns globally to raise awareness of the need for improving access to clean, safe water and santiation.

Here are just a few examples of what your donations can help do:

-£100 Pays for one handpump to serve 10 households

-£225 Pays for cement for a 40ft deep hand-dug well

-£500 Pays for the materials needed for a reservoir tank to serve 600 people

-£1000 Pays the complete costs of building a 15metre well, including a £500 Nira handpump to benefit 500 people

So please donate whatever you can afford- anything is better than nothing!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
