When my friend Amber asked me to join her team to run Glack Attack (a 5km muddy obstacle race) I wasn't so sure I could do it. It sounded like fun but I was dreadfully out of shape! But when she said we would be running to raise money for 2 kids in our home-schooling group who need specialized treatment and equipment that the NHS doesn't provide but is very needed, I thought it would be worth getting in shape for! Having not run in years I knew that would be no easy task haha!
I really love the idea of running for Fundraising For Findlay, because the money will make a huge difference to someone I actually know - how often can we say that? Things that me and my children take for granted, aren't always easy for other people. If I can do one little thing to help make some part of their life better, I'm really happy to do it.
Thanks for your support, here's more info about Fundraising For Findlay:
Findlay and his younger sister Iona both have a very rare chromosome abnormality called Trisomy 12q. Their condition results in them being severely disabled with a lot of long term complex medical and care needs.
Due to their condition they need a lot of specialist equipment and adaptations to help them partake in basic daily activities that people take for granted such as bathing, sitting, standing, moving and playing
This equipment does not come cheaply and much of it is not funded via the NHS and so we are trying to raise money to fund the essential equipment and adaptations needed to make their lives easier and more accessible for them.
You can read more about them at www.fundraisingforfindlay.co.uk
Whilst their condition can never be cured and their life expectancy is unknown having the right equipment and adaptations will improve their quality of life significantly.
All donations to Tree of Hope through this page will go directly to helping Findlay and Iona.
