Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This page was set up with the hopes of raising money to support www.Nowzad.Com.
Nowzad is an organization that was formed in 2007 by a British soldier who, while stationed in the Middle East, came across a stray dog that he took in, bonded with, and could not stand to abandon when the time came for his unit leave. Unable to use military transport to ship the dog to the soldiers home he had to find other methods to get the beloved animal through hostile territory and out of the war torn country. It was through these efforts that the Nowzad organization came to fruition.
Nowzads goal is to "support the many cries for help received from servicemen and women who have, against orders, taken in a stray puppy or rescued a dog or cat from cruelty."
In Afghanistan and Iraq, in the midst of war, many animals are lost, abandoned, and have no one to care for them. These animals are malnourished, abused, often injured, and left to fend for themselves. Troops from the US, UK, and Canada come across these animals in one way or another and many life long bonds have been forged.
For soldiers who are on duty overseas the only real chance they get to experience any sort of affection, while serving their country, is when they come across these stray animals. These soldiers are lonely and longing when far from their family and friends. These kitty's and doggie's are abandoned, lost, and have nowhere to call home. When these two souls find each other, a forever bond is formed.
Therefore, in remembrance of my beloved Radar with whom I have a forever bond, I vow to continue my fundraising efforts until "every last one" comes home. Every last brave soldier fighting for our freedom and every last animal they have protected and taken into their heart. I ask that you please, take a moment and donate. Every donation, no matter how small, helps to get these animals home with the soldiers who love them and who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Kind Regards,
Diosa
