Story
I am taking part in this programme because I want to make a lasting difference. I want to work with the people that need our help the most and I believe this programme can change peoples' lives forever.
VSO is a UK government-funded development programme that brings together 18 to 25-year-olds from all backgrounds to fight poverty in overseas and UK communities. While the overall aim of the programme is to fight poverty, each project has a different focus to work on, for example: allowing access to better healthcare, widening opportunities in formal education, raising awareness of AIDS and HIV or simply building life skills.
I am very passionate about this programme as it helps bring smiles to peoples' faces all over the world. Already I have learnt about the problems people are fighting and the horrific living conditions they are facing each day, and this is why I am raising money for VSO.
I am going to be doing different fundraising activities to raise money for this programme, and I would really appreciate everyone's support with donations. The money I raise goes to VSO so that 7,000 young people from the UK and overseas can volunteer, like myself, on projects fighting world poverty.
