Ewan's Ju-Jitsu 100 throw and drag challenge

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Ewan Davis and I have been studying Martial arts for over 11 years (since I was 5). During this time my Sensei's have been a huge part of my life, shaping me into the person and martial artist that I am today. Unfortunately one of my Sensei's and friend passed away in 2016 due to Cancer. His name was Chris Fletcher and he was a massive part of our club.
Every year at our annual Christmas training seminar one of the clubs high grade members takes part in an event we call the "100 throw challenge". This consists of being thrown by a black belt member of the club 10 times in rapid succession using their favourite throw, then dragging yourself using only your arms 10m across the mats to the next awaiting black belt. This is repeated 10 times for a total of 100 throws and 100m dragging. This is not any easy task and hurts a lot.
Chris Fletcher was a very fit and active member of our club, he was a 4th Dan black belt who trained several times a week; to discovering he had an aggressive form of cancer. His illness was brief, leaving little time to prepare his good byes. The Douglas Macmillan Hospice played an important part in his end of life care and they offered practical and emotional support to Chris’ wife, Sharon.
The Douglas Macmillan Hospice is a local charity and the only adult hospice within North Staffordshire caring for local people with life limiting illnesses. Their dedicated staff and volunteers make a huge difference to a patient’s journey; going the extra mile to provide a warm, friendly and peaceful environment both at the hospice or in a patient’s family home. The Douglas Macmillan Hospice provides all hospice services free of charge to over 3,000 patients each year, so fundraising is essential!
The Dougie Mac Hospice simply couldn’t survive without the generosity of the local communities of Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire. It costs over £12million to run the hospices’ services free of charge every year, with 80% of this funding coming from supportive local people.
