My story

"Thousands in Burma are forced by their own government to flee their homes and run for their lives. You can help."

Over the last year I have (finally) recovered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, which I had been suffering from for the previous eight years.  And as a result I am excited (and thankful) to be able to participate in Edinburgh's Run for Relief in Burma.

The 5km fun run (that I have been helping organise) occurs on Saturday 10 October 2009 in Inverleith Park and is part of a global effort to help the people of Burma through funding humanitarian relief and increasing awareness of their plight.  These are some of the most oppressed people in the world and Partners seeks to support them in very practical ways.

I know that a 5km run doesn't sound like that much of a challenge (and I am wanting to run a half marathon soon so I should be able to do this), but it is a cause and these are a people who need help.  In doing this I hope to raise money for people experiencing far greater difficulties than those from which I have recovered.

For those who are in Edinburgh - Come and join us!  The race will start at 11am with prizes awarded afterward.  A free lunch is offered after the race for those who want to learn more about the issues affecting Burma today - and what you can do to help.
