The National Three Peaks Challenge

Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
First the official bit, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Following on from this, who are Mary's Meals and what do they do? Well they are an inspirational Scottish based charity which sets up school feeding projects in some of the world's poorest communities, where hunger and poverty prevent children from gaining an education.
They provide one daily meal in a place of learning to attract chronically poor children into a classroom where they receive an education which can, in the future, be their ladder out of poverty. Mary's Meals began by feeding 200 children in Malawi in 2002. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of their supporters they are now feeding over 700,000 children every school day.
I know there are many worthwhile charities which work here in the UK, but in terms of "bang for your buck" there are few which can compete with Mary's Meals. Amazingly it costs on average just £10.70 to feed a child for an entire year. This shows just how far your donations could go to helping those which are less fortunate. You have the chance to make a real difference, to offer these children a potential route out of poverty. I am a huge believer in the power of education to empower people, to give them the tools to help shape their own lives, which is why I am so inspired by the work of Mary's Meals.
Please note that 100% of the money which is raised for this challenge will be going directly to Mary's Meals. I am not using donations to pay for travel, equipment or accommodation. Also, Mary's Meals are a very efficient charity, and are committed to spending at least 93p of every £1 you donate on their charitable work.
Finally, for those of you who don't know, the National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, all in just 24 hours. There is going to be two of us doing the challenge, I will be joined by my younger brother Liam. We will also be relying on his wife Sarah to do all the driving (over 450 miles in total), we couldn't do it without her!!
The plan is to start in Scotland and climb Ben Nevis first, which is the highest of the three peaks at 1344 metres (4409 ft), from here we will drive down to England and scale Scafell Pike which is 978m (3209ft), and finally we head down to Wales to climb Mount Snowdon which is 1085m (3560ft). As well as the 13-14 hours of arduous trekking there is approximately 10 hours of driving required to get us between mountains. It will certainly be the toughest physical challenge I have ever undertaken!
With all this in mind please dig deep and donate generously! Thanks everyone! :-D
