Story
Reading this means that in some way you have been connected with The University of Exeter, and more specifically The Exeter University Boat Club.
Over recent years EUBC has grown into one of the universities largest and most competitive clubs – There are currently around 120 active members and EUBC is ranked 4th amongst Athletic Union clubs for BUCS points collected.
The club is currently supported by the generous donations of EUBC alumni, the University’s Athletic Union and club members – and there is no doubt that the club is hugely reliant both on external funding and support in order to race at a competitive level.
The construction of a new Boat House, supported by an extremely kind donation from Alumni Nicholas Bull, will enable EUBC to finally move out from the asbestos roofed boat house in October. The website, www.eubc.co.uk, is also being re-developed and goes live on the 4th June. There will be sections for news, photos, race reports and areas detailing previous Boat Club successes. (If you have any race reports/news stories that you would like to share on the website please get in contact).
Following Nicholas’ transformational donation and his continued support, EUBC will have a first class Boat House in October. But given an ageing fleet and tired equipment we still have a long way to go in providing our rowers with the adequate fleet and equipment needed to compete on the national and international stage.
We hope you will become part of a donor base that will support the club on an ongoing basis. We are looking for one off donations, to equip the new boat house, and regular contributors to ensure that the momentum of recent national successes and alumni involvement is continued over the coming seasons.
In time for the Boat Club opening on the 13 October we hope to provide the Boat Club with the following items: Two Cox Boxes (£285 each) and 8 blades (£330 each) and a second hand pair (£3200).
If you would be interested to learn more about opportunities to donate to the boat club or are interested in participating in the donations of a specific item from the above list, please contact Alumni Committee Secretary Sam Swadling, (sswadling@preqin.com) or University Athletics Sports Development Officer, Simon Tyson, (S.Tyson@exeter.ac.uk).
