Story

Hi there

Thanks for taking the time to visit  my JustGiving page.

On behalf of Experian I am delighted to be supporting a team of the Queen's Gurkha Engineers as they run the famous Nottingham 1/2 marathon on Sunday 13 September 2009. Any money we can raise for them will be sent to the Gurkha Welfare Trust and Experian are match funding the money  we raise up to a certain level.

The Gurkha Welfare Trust was established in England in 1969. Its remit is to provide financial, medical and community aid to alleviate hardship and distress among Gurkha ex-servcemen of the British Crown and their dependants after they have returned to their homeland of Nepal.  Did you know that some ex-servicemen who served for up to 15 years are not entitled to any military pension?

For nearly 200 years the Gurkhas have helped to fight Britain's wars and keep the peace. They have won 13 Victoria Crosses and served in most of Britain's conflicts during that period.

These men are easily amongst the fittest and the most dedicated in the British Army and we want to show our support by raising as much money as we can for them.

A team of 12 Queens Gurkha Engineers from 70 Squadron in Maidstone are travelling to Nottingham to support this event so please dig deep and donate now. And if you want to know more about the Gurkha's and the Welfare Trust you can visit www.gwt.org.uk

Also, a big thank you to Gary Wood from Experian who is running in the marathon and fundraising for the GWT by doing this. Gary's support is hugely appreciated and so are all the donations made to this page by his friends and colleagues

Thanks

Laura Brown

With Special thanks from

Major Gavin Brown, OC 70 Squadron QGE and the soldiers from 70 Squadron
