The Eye Cycle team, John Greenwood (scientist), Alex Monroe (jeweller) and Lloyd Hutchinson (actor), will take on the grueling Lands End to John O’ Groats cycle route in aid of Fight for Sight - the ’s leading eye research charity.

The three friends will cycle the length of the to raise money for research into the prevention and treatment of sight loss.  The team will be joined by friends along the route including Jeremy Bowen, Mark Francis, Steve Moss, Mike Cheetham, Peter Lundh von Leithner, David Burgin, Paul Chapple, Sergey Novoselov and Simon Lamont.

John, a Professor of Research at the University College London Institute of Ophthalmology, and Alex who has suffered from sight problems in the past, are both very aware of the devastating impact that eye disease has on both individuals and society. Although there are around 320,000 registered blind or partially sighted people in the , the amount spent on research is disproportionately small.

The Eye Cycle team is committed to raising both the profile of Fight for Sight and significant funds to support research into serious eye conditions including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma and cataract as well as the causes of childhood blindness.

To join the team and/or to keep up to date with their progress go to http://eyecycle.fightforsight.org.uk/
