Food For Thought - Feeding the Homeless

Food For Thought is a new family funded project whose aim is to provide one hot meal a week to the less fortunate in their local area/community – Blackburn. Food for Thought is an organisation there to cater to all, regardless of race, religion gender or age. 

The idea was inspired by the food banks, but this family wanted to bring in their new approach and serve ‘hot wholesome’ meal, once a week, enabling those who cannot afford hot meals to eat at-least one nutritious meal a week.

Food For Thought initially started as a family project in association with Al Imdaad Foundation, who helped get the project off the ground. The project is currently funded by family members, but as the demand increases, Food For Thought will be looking for external support to widen our horizons and keep the project running.

The aim of this project is to provide hot wholesome nutritious meal once a week to those who are in need and living in current economical/financial difficulties where they have no means to get hot food. All meals will be prepared by two family catering businesses. Once the food is prepared it will be delivered to the Al Imdaad Foundation site, at 185 Audley Range, Blackburn, BB1 1TH where friendly volunteers will help distribute the foods. Our intention is to keep Al-Imdaad Foundation as the main and central location, but hopeful to set up the distribution bank at other areas, where it’s convenient for others to get too.
