Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

The three of us (Lee Bennett, Steve Piper and Andy Hurll) are taking part in the London South stage of the Tough Mudder tour in October this year, to be held at Temple Valley, Winchester. Notorious for resembling a medieval battlefield, London South’s Tough Mudder is arguably Europe’s most gruelling event. Have a look on YouTube or check out the Tough Mudder website to see what the event is all about, but it is essentially a 12 mile run complete with huge obstacles all the way.

We have chosen to take part in this event to raise money for the NICU at Portsmouth Hospital. The maternity unit at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth performed miracles when my niece Elena Darcy Forder was born almost four months premature in October last year, and their hard work and expertise made sure that little Elena was able to go home with her parents just after Christmas.

Elena was born weighing just 1lb 5oz and spent almost 100 days at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and our family is eternally grateful for all of the hard work of the staff that meant Elena could eventually go home and is fit and well today! If you haven't heard this incredible story then you can read the Bournemouth Echo article by clicking here.

We all hope you are able to donate anything at all to this worthy cause, with everything we raise going to the Neonatal Unit at the hospital to make sure that more premature babies have a chance of survival in the future.
