The Big Bike Ride - 2009 · 21 August 2009

Dr Kershaw's Hospice provides free, specialist, end-of-life and palliative care (an area of healthcare that focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients) for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Oldham and its surrounding areas in a peaceful and homely environment.

Story

Dear Sponsor

For the twelfth year in a row I am taking a team of fellow intrepid mountain bikers – staff from First Choice Homes in the main – on a long weekend bike ride to raise money for one of Oldham’s most well known and well respected local charities.  Dr Kershaw’s hospice in Royton relies totally on voluntary contributions to provide its services.  In 2008 it provided care for two of our staff, who sadly then passed away.

The bike ride this year takes in 90 miles or so of the Pennine cycle way from Tebay in Cumbria down to Hebden Bridge, then we are going to do part of the Mary Townley loop, which is almost entirely an off road bridleway which will bring us a further 20 miles or so to finish at Hollingworth Lake.

Your donation is very much appreciated.
