In memory of Aidan Robson
We Provide & fund community defibrillators to Improve Cardiac Arrest survival

Story

Friends of Aidan Robson was set up to honour our dear friend Aidan.

In March 2022, we installed a community defibrillator in Aidan’s name in the Hare & Billet Pub, Blackheath - Aidan’s local. We currently have enough funds for a second one - hopefully in another location that was equally meaningful to him, and where it can also potentially help save lives.

"Aidan was all about friends, family and being active, so our family is very happy to commemorate him by helping to save lives. Let’s all please learn how to use it when it’s up!" Kelly Robson

These devices can be used by members of the public, often with little or no training, to re-start the heart of a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.

When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival falls by 10% every minute without action. However, with CPR and the use of a defibrillator within 3 minutes, the chance of survival could be as high as 70%.

Defibrillators can save lives.

All funds raised will enable us to purchase a defibrillator for use by our local community, maintain it and provide training for those people who would like to learn how to perform emergency first aid, CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Any giftaid contributions will go directly to support the charity Community Hearbeat Trust and the 6000+ defibrillators they have helped install.

About the charity

The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk
