Four of the group discovered the delights of a charity challenge trek in three years ago and decided that the challenge of raising funds to support a local cause far outweighed the long days walking, cold nights camping, altitude sickness and fatigue experienced on the trek!
We have decided that the ultimate Challenge for us will be to take on Mount Kilimanjaro in , . Climbing to an altitude of 5896m (19,341ft) over 7 days; walking through the dusty African plains through the thick forest and up on to the moorland before rising to the spectacular views and ice formations of the glaciers as we reach the highest point of the crater, Uhuru Peak.
We have been assured our limits will be tested, both physically and mentally – but the rewards will be worth it. Not only a personal challenge for each of us, but also a group decision and commitment to raise funds to support our local Cancer Charity – FORCE. The charity needs to raise in excess of £750,000 a year to run a Cancer Support Centre in ; to fund two research studentships at the and to fund essential equipment for the Oncology Department at the Royal Devon and .
Please support us in supporting others who will benefit from our fundraising endeavours. Any amount you can give you will be gratefully received, and more importantly by the Charity and its beneficiaries.
