My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We, as FZY Year Coursers have an aim. Our aim is to raise £12,000 before the end of Year Course for the Ethiopian Barmitvzah Fund.
Celebrating a Bar and Batmitzvah is something that in the UK we may take for granted but this is not the case for Ethiopian children who have recently arrived in Israel.
The Ethiopian Barmitzvah fund is a unique charity that provides young Ethiopians with a communal Bar/Batmitzvah ceremony, bringing happiness to hundreds of children and their families.
The participants are twinned with children in England who they write letters to and get to know before going through their Bar/Batmitzvah journey together. A few things that we, together with the charity provide are; Bar/Batmitzvah lessons for participants, clothes, shoes and jeans for weekdays, sets of Talitot and Tefilin for all the boys and candlesticks for all the girls, renting the Great Synagogue for the ceremony and lunch, photographs for all the celebrants and their families and much more.
We feel that this charity is extremely worthwhile and aids the integration of Ethiopian immigrants into Israeli society.
So part of the way we are raising money for this cause is by running the Jerusalem 10k. This is happening on March 25th 2011. Every single FZY Year Courser is taking part by doing 10k, half marathon or full marathon. We are asking you as our friends and family to please support and sponsor us to help us reach our 12K goal!
