Story

Hellllloooooooo... ;) OMG.. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As you some of you may know, Ive only been running for the past 12 months and hahaha theres been plently of ups and downs in that 12 months thats for sure, but surprisingly I managed to complete my first Half marathon (13.1 miles) in September 09, which when I first started running I thought that only people that had been running for years could complete that distance, however through sheer determination and the support of my family and friends I managed it and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!!

Running makes me feel alive and helps to give me some direction in my life, which again some of you may know that with the loss of both parents and events of late this has not always been something that has come easy to me. So it is with both excitement and apprehension that I have decided to enter Brathay Hall Windermere Marathon (26.2 miles) in May 2010.  The most I have ran so far is 15 miles, so hahaha.. Ive got plenty of training to do yet, but Im hopeful that Il get there and I hope that you all can support me in this by donating to Brathay Hall Trust... (OMG how official does this all sound)...

'Children and young people in the UK are facing many challenges. Brathay works with some of the most disadvantaged, facing issues such as social exclusion, rural isolation, bullying and sexual exploitation' Taken from Brathay Website

As being a Mum of 3 and previously a Registered Network Childminder who also had to closely follow the Every Child Matters Outcomes, I find the work that the charity does is fantastic for the unfortunate children and individuals that find themselves 'cast out' or 'lost' by society today.  We all like to think that we provide the best we can for our children and shelter them from harm, however we live in a society where on occasion events can and do happen that are out of our control and children are born into poverty or do fall prey to unscrupulous characters and temptation. I can speak from experience in this matter as last year a family member found themselves in a situation that escalated beyond their control and at first look you would immediately write them off, but when you take time out to find out the full story behind them you begin to understand.

All I ask is that please dont take the youth of today directly at face value, take time out to get to know them... we were all young once.

Thanks once again for taking time out to read this, I hope that you can sponsor me, any amount no matter how small will be appreciated and DOES make a difference.
