The reason I have chosen The Archie Foundation is as a result of my own direct exposure to the contribution they provide within the Sick Childrens Hospital at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. During the early part of 2009, my daughter contracted speticemia in addition to an abscess in her pelvis. Although this period was very stressful & strained for the family, the amenities provided within the Childrens Hospital, many of which are financied or assisted by The Archie Foundation, allowed the family to be close to our daughter & reassure her during the frightening times of her recovery.
It was only when I experienced the situation at first hand did I realise how important the foundations contributions are to the general happiness of the children in the hospital & wards, be it books, cartoon characters painted on the walls, computer games or the redecoration of a parents room. All these things are an important contributing factor to a childs stay within the unfamiliar surroundings of a hospital.
