Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Hi, I'm Fay. I'm 13 years-old and on Sunday 14th March 2010 I plan to do a 5km swim [250 lengths of my local 20m pool] to raise money for Parkinson's Disease Society. My Grandad suffers from Parkinson's, I want to do this swim for him and the 5 million other sufferers world wide.

It's a distance I've never covered before so I plan to rest after every kilometre [50 lengths] to have a drink and catch my breath before I set off again. I know it won't be easy but with the help of my family and friends and my devotion to the cause driving me forward, I will succeed.

I know in this time of economic crisis finding those extra few pounds for charity can be hard but every little bit counts! Even if it's just a pound it still makes a difference and you get a good feeling knowing that you've done your bit to help a worthwhile cause! I also ask you to allow Gift Aid on your donation, it's a service that doesn't cost you any more but allows the charity to claim an extra 28% from any donation you make!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that you can find a few extra pounds to donate!
