In November I am travelling to Mombasa, Kenya with a group of Orthopaedic surgeons, Anaesthetists, Theatre  and Recovery nurses and a Radiographer to work alongside local staff with some of their patients, many injured through trauma. We are going as part of the Kenya Orthopaedic Project liked with MEAK. We are funding the trip ourselves and using annual leave from our normal jobs to go. I am the only Physiotherapist on this trip and I hear the local physiotherapists out there are keen to meet me and learn what they can. As most of you know I am a paediatric physiotherapist ESP in orthopaedics. As well as working with the patients (adults and children) who will be operated on during our trip, I am hoping to run some teaching sessions with local staff particularily on Ponseti treatment of babies with club foot as well as anything else I can offer.

We are organising various small fund raising activities in Plymouth and would very much appreciate any and all help to raise funds to help our trip. Many people have already been very generous donating text books, clothes, school supplies and toys that have all been sent ahead on a container to meet us when we arrive. I am very grateful to all who are supporting the trip. I am sure we are all going to find it hard work but incredibly rewarding and will come back with a lot of tales to tell.
