Blenheim Triathlon 2013 · 8 June 2013 to 9 June 2013 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

I DID IT!  and survived to tell the tale (despite an initial stage in the lake when I thought I might drown!)  Thank you to everyone who supported me.  I'm hanging up my challenge boots for a while now.....

So a few months ago I had a moment of madness and thought it would be a fun idea to take part in the Blenheim Triathlon.  Fortunately I am not alone in my madness and have roped my friend Dean in as well.  Really we just wanted to have a look around Blenheim Palace...what were we thinking????

So the swim I thought, I'll be fine, I'm not a bad swimmer...I didn't take into account the wetsuit....just getting it on is a trial on it's own! How I'm supposed to find the energy to then swim 750 metres in it I have no idea..

The bike ride...hmm, how bad can that be??  For those who have seen my 'special' bike, you'll be pleased to know i'll be leaving that at home and using a less conspicuous bike sans basket and paniers...

The run, I know, it's only 5 km but have I told you....I HATE RUNNING. Think I still have a mental block since training for the marathon 6 years ago.

So all in all, why on earth am I doing this?  Well, I keep telling myself it's all for a good cause... I'm raising money for the official charity, Leukemia and Lymphoma Reseach.  I am very fortunate not to know anyone who has been affected by blood cancer, but there are a lot of people who aren't as lucky so the more we can raise to help research, the better.
