Cash for Kids is a grant-giving charity, supporting young lives from birth to 18. Our mission is to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife and Falkirk who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs.

Story

Jodie is Al's little sister, Jodie has spina bifida, and her present wheelchair is currently unable to allow her to keep up with her dog Buster on long walks on un-even terrain and at the beach.

Al, Dave and Ryan have decided to give up their favourite past-time, drinking alcohol in the pub, for four weeks during February in order to raise money to buy her a 4x4 Wheel Chair.

Dave Coates can be found most days in Edinburgh's Old Town. When asked what he would miss most about drinking, Dave stated: "I will really miss the ability to relax in company."

On top of that he has said he will find it troubling not "Being as drunk as the girls he is talking to."

He is keeping his mind off alcohol by concentrating on improving his Pro Evolution Soccer skills on the Wii. He is also keen to talk to his imaginary children more, apparently.

Dave is hoping that time frequenting galleries and libraries, as well as the odd glass of coke and a cream egg will help him last the month.

Ryan McSwiggan is a learner driver who lives in Slateford.

He has said that he will miss the ability to communicate with his peers the most, while oxymoronically he will not miss the ability to commuicate with his peers.

He will mostly be using cigarettes and chocolate to cope
with abstinence from alcohol.

Al Innes is a one-time chef with a penchant for sarcasm and hyperbole. He is currently studying a Masters in Journalism and can often be found sleeping in other people's beds.

He has said that he will not miss the hangovers, which Dave and Ryan agreed. He thinks Dave might have even suggested it. He will be using Charles Bukowski and food to deal with his cravings for alcohol.
