Story
Dear friends,
For the first time in my life I find myself asking people to help me raise money for a cause, anything you can spare - even just a pound or a euro (although obviously the more the better!) - and by doing so you’ll be helping finance an incredible attempt to cure a horrendous disease called Duchenne Muscolar Dystrophy (DMD) which is the most common fatal genetic disorder to affect boys and for which there is no cure. At the moment one in around 3,600 boys is born with DMD, which results in muscle degeneration and eventual death.
However scientists believe that research into the disease is on the edge of a real breakthrough. What’s vital now is that money keeps coming in to keep the research going.
The Duchenne Children’s Trust was set up by Nick and Emily Crossley, who one day had to face the utterly tragic news that their small son Eli had been diagnosed with DMD. The Trust has set a goal to find a cure within the next 10 years and is raising money to finance eight different research projects in the UK and one in Holland.
My small and slightly foolish contribution to try and raise funds and awareness for the Duchenne Children’s trust is to try and ride a bicycle in less than 24 hours from London to Paris on 6 of June, the day of my 37th birthday.
I am just coming out of a move and an incredibly busy year with the birth of our own boy Lele and as a result I am not fit, nor prepared for it (yet) and I barely own a bike that can reliably carry my mighty 100 kilos, but I promise that one way or another I will make it to the Champs Elysee. SO PLEASE, PLEASE contribute to the Duchenne Chiuldren’s trust, sponsor my ride and give me a birthday present by clicking the link below and giving what you can.
Thanks to all.
Abbracci.
