We are a not for profit community development organisation aiming to help people help others. We lead the way in improving the capacity of Muslim foster carers, while supporting Non-Muslim carers get optimal results with Muslim children. We also oversee MM France and their refugee program.

Story

The plan: To raise £2000 with Allah's help and permission, to sponsor food for 5 families (£400 x 5) in the refugee camps of East Sudan.

The refugees in East Sudan are in a hard to reach area that is not easily accessed by other charities. Despite the desperate situation and extreme shortage of food the people are humble and grateful. When asked about their condition, they are able to say Alhamdulillah; with empty stomachs. Many have fled even more dire conditions in their home countries and have been living in the camp for decades.

These people have nothing but their reliance and hope in God, and they don't know when and where their next mouthful will come from.

The Talkers & the Doers

All that's going on around the world, domestically, internationally the news, the feeds, the updates then the  analysis and commentary, is just depressing and it consumes our energy physically, emotionally and mentally. It's overwhelming and it's way too easy for the sense of hopelessness and weakness in front of massive problems to seem debilitating.

I came across this quote and it spoke volumes to me:

“The believer speaks a little and works a lot. And the hypocrite speaks a lot and does little work. The speech of a believer is wisdom, and his silence is contemplation and his vision is reflection and his actions are goodness.”

— Al-Fudayl Ibn Iyaad

In my heart I know that is the way to go, to be the doers, the people of action, tact in their interactions, weight to their thoughts, depth to their insight and a relentless determination to help others. It's one thing to sit around and complain, just talkers, who criticize others, feel sorry for ourselves and blame the situation for our inaction.

It's another thing completely, to be the people to make the change, the doers, who try to fix what's broken, build and lift others up.

I want to be one of those people. Don't you?

Let's come together and help our brothers and sisters. Let's spread the good, encourage others and make it happen for them inshallah.

I don't think setting a goal to finish before Ramadan is overly ambitious. I can't imagine the relief of the families hearing their meals are taken care of for a year inshallah! The weight of worry, the pain of uncertainty being lifted!

May Allah use us for good, accept it from us, and see in our hearts that we only wanted to do the right thing and be the best version of ourselves for His sake.

I pray that the warmth of giving and standing up for those in need surrounds us and the peace knowing we did something - no matter how small - fills our hearts.

I ask Allah to give us safety on the day when we need it the most, to have mercy on us and answers our prayers in our most vulnerable and desperate times, like we have come together to try and do for our brothers and sisters in theirs.

Ameen.
