We pioneer life-saving cancer research to help us beat cancer

Story

Feet4Steve

Steve Holley.

Boisterous, opinionated, a ranter and a raver, a funny, funny guy.

Screaming obscenities at ‘Deal or no Deal’ while devouring a cheese-on-tiger-bread sandwich, followed swiftly by a whole chocolate Swiss Roll. Keeping an eye outside that his beloved green Kawasaki dream machine wasn’t being squashed by the poo truck, before going back to his missed ebay sale and then arranging that night’s p***-with his regular band of buddies, on his mobile with his Brother, after obviously cashing a cheque at ‘carlos’.

That’s the Steve we want to remember.

At the end of 2011 he was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

We all thought he would beat this, given the good odds on this particular type of Cancer; he updated everyone regularly via Facebook about his treatment.  It seemed he was on his way to recovery, albeit a slow one, until the chemotherapy took its toll. Complications set in and tragically he never recovered, absolutely unbelievable that this vibrant, loud character should be silenced forever.

That’s where our band of intrepid heroes step in!

Fundraising for Cancer Research.

Make a note in your diary friends – three dates – Sunday 28th April, Saturday 3rd August 2013 and 8th September 2013.

28th April: Scott O’Mara, Jane Bowley, Andy Bacon & Alex Bacon (no relation) are the finely tuned athletes who have chosen to partake in the Stratford-Upon-Avon Half Marathon, a physical challenge, an intellectual puzzle, an emotional inspiration and obviously a spiritual test.

Or put another way, 13 miles of bone-crunching, mind-numbing slog and torture!

3rd August: Scott, Jane, Andy and John Scale are gallantly attempting to conquer the National Three Peaks Challenge; Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and finally Snowdon in Wales – all in 24 crazy fun-filled hours.

8th September: The Full Wye Valley Marathon beckons for Jane, Scott and Alex. 2 events down, this will be the final charity event of the year and maybe the toughest!!

Some would call these people mad, insane, totally bonkers. You decide.

All in an excellent cause of course, A way of remembering our much-missed friend and colleague, Steve.

We want to raise as much money as possible to provide extra funding in fighting Cancer. We have a target of £2,000. Any donations via the fundraising page gratefully accepted.

“Yeah-right”, as Steve would say, laughing loudly.
