Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

Six members of staff from the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust are attempting The Three Peaks Challenge for the Anthony Nolan Trust on 26 September.  The team: Jon Harris, Tony Saunders, Tony McIntosh, Carol Hannam, Martin Hall and Stephanie Bryant, all based with Fenland Adult Mental Health Services, will summit the UK’s three highest peaks in 24 hours including drive time.

At 1344m Ben Nevis is the UK’s highest peak and the first of the challenges.  The team will then be driven to Scafell Pike (978m) in the Lake District to ascend this peak through the night, and finally to Wales for a “walk” up Snowdon at 1085m.

The team need to raise a total of £5000 sponsorship for the Anthony Nolan Trust and would be grateful for any pledges of sponsorship, no matter how small.  A pound a peak will do; it all adds up.  We have already raised over £4000 through fundraising events such as a quiz night, car boot sales, and waxing various body parts of the men in the team! The next events will be a disco and a shabby chic fashion show.

For those who don’t know, “the Anthony Nolan Trust provides lifesaving donors for patients in need of a bone marrow transplant.  The Trust was set up in 1974 by Shirley Nolan to help find a bone marrow donor for son Anthony.  Sadly he died without a donor ever being found.  However, Shirley’s passion and determination created the world’s first bone marrow register, giving the chance of life to thousands of children and adults.  The bone marrow register couldn’t exist without fundraising”.

Please help us to reach our total of £5000 by donating using this page.

Thank you!
