Jason's Festive 500k Cycling Challenge · 27 December 2013

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

On 26th & 30th December I rode 538k (334 miles) to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

The journey headed South West from Bath on 26th December, over Exmoor to Ilfacombe on the North Devon coast. From there I headed South across Devon, over Dartmoor to the South coast at Salcombe. Then it was the final push North East for just over 123 miles, through Exeter, Taunton and Bridgewater, finishing in Thornbury, North Bristol.

Here's a film of the ride:

·      One in three people over 65 will die with dementia

·      Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 800,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia, more than half have Alzheimer’s disease. In just ten years a million people will be living with dementia. This will soar to 1.7 million people by 2051

·      Alzheimer’s Society champions the rights of people living with dementia and the millions of people who care for them
