Thank you for taking the time to follow the link to my JustGiving page, to see how I got on last weekend in Inverness, running in the Baxters 10K Race.

I hope that you enjoy looking at the new set of photos here, as they'll give you just a flavour of the day, which was a great success!

Firstly, an absolutely massive THANK YOU to all of you who sponsored me for my 10K in aid of The Autism Trust, such a worthwhile charity.  It means such a lot to Jon and me, that there are so many generous friends out there, who are willing to support us in our endeavours to make Gregor's future the best it can possibly be - very, very many thanks!

Secondly, for any of you who have not yet had the time to help, and who would still like to donate... its not too late - this Justgiving web page is still active... so don't delay... please do it now....

Anyway, on to the weekend... and the race....

The weather in London on Friday, when we left, was a sunny 19degree day.  On arrival in Inverness on Saturday afternoon, it was 6degrees, pouring with torrential rain and blowing a 70 MPH gale (needless to say, everyone questioned why on earth, I'd dragged them all the way there, for that!).  The drive over the Forth Road bridge and up the A9 through the Cairngorms was beautiful but challenging - there was even snow at the highest points of the scenery, which may have looked lovely, but was not on our list of requirements for race day.  There was a three hour break in the weather for the race itself on Sunday, thank goodness - the sun shone through brightly, and the rain held off .

It was a fantastic morning, with about 3000 people running the 10K (including Nessie, and a fair few number of others in very imaginitive fancy dress).  Although not the fastest entrant by a long shot,  I was able to cross the finish in an upright position and still going strong - so I was very pleased... and the Baxters soup in a cup, and large crusty roll, that was handed out with the medals, was very welcome.

Huge thank-yous go to Vicky and Sally who also ran for The Autism Trust, to Gaby who was running for Macmillan Cancer Support, and to my sister Alison who broke her toe just before the event so couldn't run, but came along as supporter and photographer in chief - I was so chuffed that they agreed to give of their time and effort, to come so far with me and do their bit, too.  Re-spect, ladies!

Again, very many thanks to those of you who have already supported me.

With love and best wishes

Fiona

xx
