Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon 2017 · 8 October 2017 ·
My very dear friend Shiona is being treated for advanced melanoma at the Royal Marsden. She has undergone an unpredictable and harrowing roller coaster ride since being diagnosed in summer 2015. A simple mole on her back has turned her life upside down. The care she is receiving is second to none. Treatment is advancing constantly and every penny donated can help save lives with the Royal Marsden's dedication to a future beyond cancer.
Shiona has fought every battle that has come her way with strength and resilience. She is an absolute inspiration. Have a look at her blog on www.shomelanoma.com
Along with Shiona's husband Davey and four of their friends, I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise money to support Shiona's 'Shomelanoma' Fund. As many of you may know, I am not a natural when it comes to running, so I wanted to set myself a challenge which would push me to my limit. It has been a difficult year for me and my family and Shiona has been a huge support despite her own troubles, I would like to give something back and thank all those amazing surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, doctors, nursing staff, researchers and all others involved in helping us beat cancer.
Any contribution to the Royal Marsden would be so appreciated and would spur me on my run round 21km of those beautiful London parks on Sunday 8th October!
