My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

We did it!

After 18 days, over 1070 miles torrential rain intermixed with squally showers and the odd hurricane with a teeny bit of sunshine we finally made it to John O Groats on Sat 24th September at 1700h.  We encountered buzzards, red kites, red deer and even a red squirrel in stunning scenery, indulged in regional gastric delights, experienced the kindness of strangers (wonderful to know it still exists) and the beautiful hospitality and generosity of friends and family! Especially our folks who embraced the idea so wholeheartedly, were so supportive and raised so much.

It was the hardest thing we've both ever done but it was a truly life changing experience that we will never forget.  The weather and our heavy load made it more difficult but the all the more rewarding once we got there.

A huge thank you to everyone for their generosity, support, encouragement, hospitality, personal messages, texts and facebook messages as they all helped to boost us on our way when we needed it. Especially in Cornwall, which was a huge shock to the system.

Special thanks to John and Jean for being our transport to Lands End and from John O Groats and our support from afar in between.  We will always be eternally grateful.

Lastly there's a whole community of cyclists out there going up and down the country raising money and spreading the lurve! A big thank you and well done to them for spurring us on (despite insinuating we'd overpacked just slightly) and making it to the end of their journeys.  Our finish was like a party and hope the others we met going the other way made it too! (Crazy people doing it the hard way!)

Lastly, give cyclists plenty of room and be kind because they need it! Hooray for pedal power, it can take you anywhere you want to go!

We hope to raise £4K for different charities of which Compassion in World Farming is one.  They do wonderful work in trying to reduce the inherant cruelty in the intensive farming industry. If you care where your food comes from then please support them.
