Story
It has been 10 years since my grandson George died at birth. For his parents, Alice and Stuart, their dreams, plans and hopes for a new baby were destroyed. George was delivered by an emergency caesarean section and died shortly afterwards.
At midsummer every year, I complete a long-distance walk in memory of George. I also think about Alice and Stuart and all those other parents faced with this life-changing catastrophe.
Alice and Stuart have successfully rebuilt their lives and have gone on to have three more beautiful children: Harrison, Lucas, and Felicity. George, however, remains with us all in spirit.
The fundraising walk that I normally take part in has been cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions on public events. I have decided to complete a solo walk. As usual I will be raising money for Sands (the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity). Funds raised this year are especially welcome. Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on both bereaved parents and NHS staff. Sands is supporting the NHS to support bereaved parents at this very difficult time.
I will be walking 35 miles. Please give generously.
