20th September 48,000 runners participated in the Berlin Marathon - under a blaring sun, blue skies and 27 degrees heat! Despite these somewhat challenging climatic conditions I successfully completed the run in 4 hours and 20 minutes - my personal best.
Thank you to all in my network for the fantastic support for my effort on behalf of the Ssenyange School in Masaka in Uganda and for the very significant amount of money raised - for which I am truly grateful!
I shall now be in dialogue with the school as to what will be the best use of the money. Already now we know that we will be able - for part of the money - to build a house that can permanently accommodate five teachers. By having this facility the school will be able to attract better teachers which will improve the quality of the education. This is a project that has been highest on the school agenda - but not been financially possible to realize. Until now!
And old African proverb says that "If you want to preserve knowledge and enable it to travel through time, entrust it to children".
I am very proud to have friends, colleagues and business partners like you - thank you very much again!
With kind regards,
Frank
