The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further and faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

Sometimes I think most of us at some point take life for granted. Only in our idiocy as we step out on to a busy road prodding at the screen of a phone, do we realise that life can be a bit shorter than anticipated. We can also be pretty damn unnapreciative of good health, sometimes moaning when we ought to be getting up a few minutes earlier to watch the sun rising and pulling your laces tight to go out for a morning run.

Just take a couple of moments now to think how great your life is. Think of your partner, kids, friends and think of at least one time with each of these people when you laughed so hard it hurt. I bet you're smiling now! :)

Now think of a time when you actually cried with them.

Slightly sadder isn't it....

Now think of those closest to you and imagine never being able to see them again. To hold them, or touch them, or even just to say goodbye one last time.

Thats pretty much how brain cancer hits. There is little warning, if any at all. It's like flicking a switch off, and you don't get to do a bucket list.

Cancers of all types kill indiscriminantly. Brain tumours can be some of the most aggressive and hard to treat types of cancer out there. Personal experience shows how little knowledge of these cancers people have, and how difficult they are to treat with current research and technology.

Diagnosing and sucessfully treating brain cancer is hit and miss. This area of the NHS is massively underfunded and most money donated to cancer research doesn't even go into finding treatments for brain cancer.

Supporting this chairty ensures that any money donated goes directly to the people in the labs, training for doctors and ultimately gives the people diagnosed with brain cancer that little bit of hope that one day they can get on with a normal life.

I know it's close to christmas, and money may be tight, but please do give anything you can and give someone out there the best gift of all.

Thanks for reading.

I've set up a fitness treasure hunt for John Moss who is owner and trainer at Fitness Academy Hull. He has kindly allowed me to use his venue to run a small series of challenges from, and the very lovely members of the gym are busy getting into teams to run on the day!

Some of the challenges these teams will face vary from the physical to the absurdly ridiculous :)

The onus is on fun with a competitive edge. The course is between 5 and 6 miles depending on how thorough the teams want to be on the day to unlock achievements.

It's all for the charity so please support us all.
