My story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Hello the day (s) of reckoning arrived however due to constant rain and a string of injuries we were unable to beat the current world record of 40 hours. The teams battled through 28 soggy hours before seccumbing to the elements. We are already planning to undertake a second attempt on the record in October but this time indoors !! Thank you to everyone that supported us it has been greatly appreciated by us all. I will update the site when we have a total amount for the donations raised.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity works tirelessly to raise funds to keep this vital life saving service in the air. As paramedics working on this service we decided to try to do our bit to raise the £7200 needed to operate these aircraft for one day ! Foolishly perhaps a suggestion was made to attempt a world record. Being keen five a side footballers we chose to attempt to better the "longest five a side football game" challenge which currently stands at 40 hours ! ! So a group of 16 paramedics, ambulance service colleagues, friends and family will attempt to play a continuous game of five a side football at "Goals Soccer Centre" Sheffield from Thursday 7th June to Saturday 9th June hopefully achieving a Guinness world record on completion. We hope you feel this is a worthy challenge and cause and that you will support us on this venture. Please spread the word on our efforts and we will keep this site updated on our progress.
Well time is moving on quickly now and the day or days ! of reckoning are fast approaching. Please help us to publicise our event and raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause. We still require more referees along with food and drink to keep us going and of course keep the donations coming in.
Thanks Pete & the lads

All that hard work has now been recognised we are official Guinness World Record Holders !!! \nWell done to all the players and thanks to everyone who supported us especially Wickersley Sports College.
Despite a last minute injury which left us a player short the 15 players taking part have managed to complete 43 hours five a side football. Once confirmed by GWR this should set a new world record!! Please continue to donate for our cause .
Only 11 days to go now, we need your support please. Any physios out there to help us on our way ?? The staff at Wickersley sports college are doing a great job providing players and venue.. Come along and show your support on the 12th 13th 14th October..
Well the date has now been set for our second attempt at this record. On Friday 12th October at Wickersley Sports College Rotherham we will kick off again determined to exceed the 40 hours required to beat the current record. Hope we can rely on your great support again.

The YAA relies solely on the generosity of the public to help save lives across the region. We need to raise £9990 per day to keep our helicopters in the air. Since we launched in October 2000 we have flown nearly 5,000 patients directly to hospitals across the region; www.yaa.org.uk
