Story
On 14th - 16th June 2012 I'll be cycling (along with about 40 others) the C2C, starting on the West coast at Whitehaven in Cumbria, finishing at Sunderland on the East coast 2 days later (approximately 150 miles), raising money for St Benedict's Hospice under the banner of the Hazey's Heroes Memorial Trust Fund.
For those of you that don't think that is enough effort, I'll also be riding the Northern Cyclone Challenge on June 30th ... 104 miles in 8 hours (ish!) around Northumberland, with 8,000 feet of climbing, so maybe you could donate on the basis of that?

The Trust was established in memory of Graeme ‘Hazey’ Kerton. Graeme was born in Sunderland in October 1977, at the age of 16 Graeme was diagnosed with Crohns Disease, an auto-immune condition in which the body attacks it's own digestive system. Just a year later, as a result of Crohns disease he was diagnosed with the chronic liver condition Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).
He lived his life to the full but at the age of 29 another bout of ill health concluded with him being diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma (cancer of the bile ducts) as a result of the damage PSC had done to his liver.
Graeme fought an amazingly dignified and brave battle against the disease. Five years earlier he had registered, as ‘Hazey’ on readytogo.net, an internet message board for Sunderland AFC fans. From May 2006 (a year before the cancer diagnosis) he kept an entertaining blog entitled ‘Dull Ramblings’ on this message board. The blog entries continued throughout his cancer diagnosis and up until 3 days before his death, aged 30, on 6th January 2008.
During 2008 many friends, family, fellow readytogo posters and fans of his blog, took part and contributed to fundraising events held in his memory. This included the launch of ‘My Dark Friend’ (his blog entries published in book format) and 22 people completing the 150 mile Coast To Coast cycle ride. A phenomenal £12,000 was raised and distributed between Macmillan Cancer Support, PSC Trust and the Jim Cronin Memorial Fund. This has now become a yearly event.
I know times are tricky just now, but any donations are greatly appreciated and I've applied for matched funding from Barclays, so your generosity will be matched (up to £750 in total).
Any and all donations are of course hugely appreciated.
