Story

As part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association's (AMYA) emergency relief initiative, several hundred volunteers have been assisting families affected by the recent horrific weather conditions. In some cases volunteers have travelled more than 150 miles to assist those affected in remote areas.

Volunteers have been based in Surrey, Berkshire, Middlesex, Dorset, Somerset, the Worcester and North West England where they have laid sandbags, cleared buildings of water and provided thousands of blankets and bottles of water to victims of the weather.

The charity is operating a 24 hour rota with a central team surveying the hardest hit areas and deploying volunteers, 4x4 vehicles and supplies wherever their is a need. The elderly, Churches and schools have been prioritised.

They AMYA has also planted more than 75,000 trees over the past year to assist with flood relief efforts.
