RoadPeace is the national charity for road crash victims. We provide practical and emotional support to victims through a helpline, befriender network, and information guides on the legal procedures that follow a crash. RoadPeace also campaigns for justice for victims and road danger reduction policies that champion the needs of vulnerable road users. RoadPeace won the Guardian Charity Award winners in 2008. Help us make the world a safer and fairer place.

Story

In August 2009 my sister Alison was killed by a speeding hit & run driver while we were on a family holiday in Portugal. Her death has torn so many lives apart. We've had to rebuild our lives without her, but she has left a gap that can never be filled.

Last year I ran the Reading Half Marathon in aid of RoadPeace in Alison's memory - and thank you so much to those of you who sponsored me. This April I've decided to go a step further. Well actually, many many steps further!! I ran the Reading Half Marathon once again on April 1st this year (and gained a new personal best...and some blisters). Then on the 15th April I'll be running the Paris Marathon. For some crazy reason, it seemed like a good idea at the time!

I've been training pretty hard over the last few months and I'm asking for your help now to help raise lots more money for this fantastic charity in Alison's memory. Not only will your donations go towards the valuable and challenging work that RoadPeace does, but they'll also help to motivate me when my poor little knees and feet feel like giving up over the next few weeks!

I'm going to use the same fundraising page as I did last year - and it would be great if we could get the total raised to over £1500. Over the last 12 months, RoadPeace has provided our family with support and guidance following the trial and sentencing of the driver in Portugal. Many of the volunteers who work for Roadpeace have lost family members themselves in similarly tragic and violent circumstances.

Every year, thousands of people are killed or seriously injured by reckless and careless drivers. Not enough is being done to raise road safety awareness across Europe and to adequately punish those whose dangerous driving causes such catastrophic accidents. The driver who killed Alison and also caused serious injuries to my mum received an insultingly short suspended sentence and didn't even lose his drivers license.

Please dig deep and help RoadPeace in their valuable work for much-needed change, increased road safety awareness and justice.

Thank you very much in advance!! And I will of course keep you updated on how I get on with the two events! Love, Sam xxx
