My story

A new team with 2 new members, helping the old man Andrew 'celebrate' his 50th year by raising funds for a great cause

For those of you who need reminding, the event is as follows:

On Friday the 7th September three of us will canoe the 10.5mile length of Lake Windermere, cycle 26 miles over England’s steepest road pass, the 1:3 gradient Wrynose and finally, conquer Scafell Pike, navigating an 8.5 mile route from Wasdale Head to the Langdale Valley in the Lake district. During this event we will be pushed to the limits of our endurance, burning on average 10 thousand calories each!!

Why, do you ask, we put ourselves through this torture?  To raise money for Wooden Spoon.

In the UK, one child in every hundred suffers from a lifelong disability that will profoundly affect his or her ability to lead a full and happy life. Additionally, more than 3.5 million young people grow up in low income households or live in an environment where they are subjected to poverty of aspiration.

Wooden Spoon exists to improve the quality and prospects of life for children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially. Their commitment to quality charitable work makes a hugely positive impact on young lives throughout the UK.

We need your help and support to reach our fundraising target.

Please therefore give generously……Not everyone had the start in life we did…

Thanks,

My updates 2

Completed successfully in 9hr 47m - weather very dodgy and passes highly dangerous on bikes - thanks to everyone who has supported the team - just got a big funding boost from Nick Halliday (previous team member) on a Ford Fleet weekend so we will exceed the target!! Woop woop!

Well, nearly there, the big day's only on Friday; the training's done (should have been) and the weather's set fair - just need a little more sponsor funds. BIG THANK YOU if you have already supported us, if not, now's your chance!!
