Thames Path Challenge 2014 · 13 September 2014 ·

Spread a Smile brings joy and laughter to seriously ill children in NHS hospitals and hospices across the country. Through in-person and virtual visits and events, our entertainers enhance wellbeing and help families cope with the pain and anxiety of serious illness and hospitalisation.

Story

  • Why Spread a Smile? It is pretty difficult to be happy when you are unwell, even harder so if you are terminally ill. Spread a Smile visit seriously unwell children and are creative with ways to bring smiles on their faces. Fairies, magicians and music give these children a window of happiness and a moment to smile with their families, diverting their attention from their treatment, stimulating their minds and brightening a sustained and dull hospital stay.
  • We think their work is simply magical, and want to support them. They are a very small charity and we are the first corporate sponsor so we want to make a big impact. Every donation counts and is spent for maximum impact!
  • What are we doing to fundraise?
  • On Saturday 13th September we will be walking 25k / 15 miles – a distance of over half a marathon that can be considered an achievement if we complete it in under 5 hours. Yes, we are taking our ‘office legs’ on 5 hours of continuous walking!
  • What will donations mean to us?
  • Donations will mean a lot to us but they will make a huge difference to seriously unwell children in hospital – we should all have a reason to smile, especially children.
