2 very good reasons to support me:
1) Training has been hell (something I may have mentioned once or twice to some of you). There has to be a reason behind this madness and raising money for an amazing charity will prevent me questioning my sanity any further!
2) I am raising money for Coram, the fantastic charity that I now work for, so I can promise that your donation will be put to extremely good use.
Coram was the ’s first children’s charity, having been created 270 years ago. We run over 28 different projects and having seen the work first hand I can’t stress enough how important it is for increasing the opportunities available to vulnerable children and their families.
Examples of three of Coram’s projects:
Adoption – Despite working with the most difficult to place children (often those who have been neglected or abused), Coram is statistically the country’s best adoption provider. Nationally an average of 20% of adoptions fail, leading to the child going back into the care system. By comparison, over 97% of Coram’s adoptions are successful; thanks to the bespoke post-adoption support service we offer our families.
Supported Housing – Coram offers ’s most vulnerable young people (those who have been homeless or in care) housing and support to enable them to address any issues they are facing. 12% arrive experiencing mental health issues, and 10% report self-harming. Some are addicted to drugs or alcohol, have been pregnant or have experienced abuse. Coram helps these young people to access education or employment opportunities and teaches life skills to prepare them for living independently.
Music therapy – Coram offers music therapy to traumatised children as a way for them to use music to express their frustration and come to terms with their experiences. 92% of children taking part in Coram’s music therapy showed signs of increased concentration, attention skills and improved confidence.
Thank you to everyone for all your support – financial and otherwise! x
