Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

It's been three years since I ran the London Marathon and the third year that a marathon has been held in my home town of Brighton... so it seemed logical to dust off my running shoes and enter the 2012 race.

I'm part of The Martlets Hospice team and I'm aiming to raise at least £500 with your help. It just so happens that the day of the race would have been my mother's 80th birthday. Many of you will be familiar with The Martlets and, like myself, will have witnessed the care they offer people in the last days of their lives and the support they give to the bereaved. It is such an important local organisation and, since it is not part of the NHS, it's reliant on private support to raise the £9,000 needed each and every day in order to offer this essential service.

It's going to be much more difficult than last time... three years older, a very busy job, no-one to run with and no (flat) seafront to run along at night. But your support will spur me on so please give as much as you can - it really doesn't have to be much - and remember to Gift Aid your donation. I also hope that my Brighton friends will lend their support on race-day itself and will cheer me on and help me celebrate - or walk! - at the end of it.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
