Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

There are over 820,000 people in the UK living with dementia today and this number will increase as our population ages. Surrounding every person with dementia are family members and friends, in fact 25 million of us in the UK know someone affected by dementia.

Research is the only answer. We desperately need new treatments, preventions and a cure for dementia, but research is desperately underfunded. With no Government funding Alzheimer’s Research UK relies entirely on generous supporters who are important in their mission to defeat dementia.

I have chosen to raise funds for this charity as my Dad, Frank P Cowie, was diagnosed with this condition 8 years ago. He sadly passed away in February 2013 but the person he became latterly is not that Dad we want to remember him as. Some friends and I will be walking the West Highland Way (97 miles in the West of Scotland) in April in order to help raise some funds for this charity.

I have pledged to raise £1200 within a year which will fund 60 hours of pioneering dementia research.

Please help in any way you can.

Thank you
