Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge in September to raise money for our chosen charity Bowel and Cancer Research a charity that aims to deliver scientific and clinical reseach to save lives and improve the quality of life for sufferers of bowel cancer and other bowel diseases.
Although a slightly insane challenge to undertake we felt that it would push us to the limit for a very worthy cause.
We are nurses on a Surgical High Dependency Unit at Salford Royal and we mostly specialise in bowel surgery for sufferers of bowel cancer and other bowel problems. We experience first hand the devastation it can have on the sufferers and their families.
Bowel cancer is the third most common cause of death in the UK and over 15,700 die each year. 100,000 individuals are living with ulcertaive colitis and 52,000 are living with Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is still very poorly understood and there is still no cure, only symptom control.
So, we feel that your generous support (and plenty of training!) will help us conquer Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowden in a rediculous 24 hour time scale!
It's going to be tough but we are very excited to raise as much money as we can for an amazing charity.
