My story

Ok so I'm planning to 'sleep rough so others don't have to'

In the St James football ground in Exeter, for one night, to raise money for YMCA. There will be speakers from YMCA that come and discuss the work they do, there will be ex-homeless people that have gone through YMCA that will talk about their time on the streets, rough sleeping, and the importance of the invisible homeless.

Sleep Easy is a national mass sleep-out event. Last year across the country over 760 people slept out and raised over £100,000 for local YMCAs! I will be joining the other volunteers for the Exeter event this year to support your local YMCA working to tackle youth homelessness in Devon.

Exeter YMCA is able to provide over 14,000 nights’ accommodation a year to vulnerable young people. They also provide tailored support, helping our young people to overcome the problems which have blighted their pasts. Finally, they equip our young people to lead positive, happy and fulfilling futures.

£60 could provide brand new kit for when a new Exeter YMCA resident moves in; such as a duvet and pillows, cutlery and crockery, oven gloves etc.

£75 could provide ongoing support for one young person for one month after they Exeter YMCA accommodation;

£180 could provide 6 group sessions a year for 8 young people such as, job clubs, cooking classes, budgeting skills, etc.

So I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful charity.
