Story

Thank you for your support. Asha means 'hope' in Hindi, and it is the charity's aim to transform lives in the slums of Delhi. Asha gives hope in a myriad of ways, from healthcare to social work and basic education, but the focus of my fundraising is higher education. In the UK, a college degree can transform a life; in India, it can bring tangible benefits to the entire community. In the UK, tuition fees alone cost £9000; in India, it costs just £450 a year for Asha to put a student through univerisity, including all the attached expenses.
I ran the Salisbury half-marathon to raise money for Asha's project of transforming more and more lives through the provision of higher education. It is a project I hope to be able to help with personally in January, when I plan to be able to spend several months volunteering with Asha. Not content with one half-marathon, I am embarking on another in late November. The money raised by my running will go directly to the charity; not a penny of your donations will be used to finance my trip.

Please give generously. As I pound the country lanes around Dorset, I will be able to know that pounds of a different type are being raised that really will transform lives. Thank you.
