Story

Land’s End to John O’Groats by bicycle – sponsored ride September 2014

IMGP1199.JPGOur beloved daughter, Nina, fell seriously ill a couple of years ago with a very rare immune system disorder. Thankfully now she is fully recovered, in large part because of the specialist treatment she received from the rheumatology team at Alder Hey children's hospital.

I don't need to tell you what a nightmare it is to find anyone you love ill and in serious pain, but thanks to her determination and their care Nina is now a happy healthy student studying biology at Cardiff University.

Whilst we have donated as a family to the hospital, I want to do more. I intend to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats in September to raise as much sponsorship money as possible, so that other kids can benefit from the wonderful work done by the rheumatology team.  The ride is about 1000 miles over 11 days and is a significant challenge for a 52 year old fat (but shrinking) bloke.

I am paying for all the food, accommodation and transport.  Any money you give will go to the hospital.  I am trying to raise £5500.  Thanks for your  kindness  - its a great cause and now hopefully other families can benefit as happily as  we did from this wonderful hospital.
