Blenheim Triathlon 2012 · 9 June 2012 ·

We're dedicated to beating blood cancer. We fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. The day we beat blood cancer is now in sight and our researchers are determined to finish the job.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always enjoyed a challenge and despite my advancing years and creaking joints felt that if you are going to have a 'mid-life crisis' moment, then why not raise some much needed funds in the process! I am not a great swimmer, find running a bit boring and didn't own a bike til last week, so what could be more perfect a challenge then entering a triathlon!

Being a GP I am well aware of the impact of ill-health on people and familes lives', and the diagnosis of a cancer can be devastating. However, over the relatively short period of my 20 years in medicine I have been able to witness first hand so-called incurable cancers become curable. In blood-borne cancers such as leukaemia and lymphoma this has certainly been the case and seen some of the biggest changes in treatments and improved life expectancy.

Such advances would not have been possible without the work of my chosen charity, as some of my patients will readily testify. Beating Blood Cancers is their on going campaign which with your help I hope to raise valuable funds.

Donations of £50 will buy a full set of patient information booklets to support patients and families affected by blood cancer. £100 can support a PhD student for 1 day to conduct vital research in this field.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
