Lumino to Lumino Challenge · 4 September 2015 to 12 September 2015 ·

The GravityLight Foundation tackles poverty and protects the environment through innovative product design. Over 1.3 billion people don't have access to electricity; they rely on dangerous, expensive & polluting kerosene lamps for light. We design safe, affordable & reliable alternatives.

Story

"Turn off your bedroom lights, when you leave your room, are we made of money?!"

The answer is Yes compared to 1.3 billion people in the world; 1 in 5 do not have light!
Can you imagine having No electricity? These people in third world counties are spending the little money they have on kerosene lamps to be able to see to cook and go about their daily life. These lamps are often homemade, which leads to long term health risks including poisoning, burns and fires. The sad reality is millions die from illnesses related to inhalation of Kerosene fumes, carbon dioxide and black carbon.

THIS Friday I am undertaking a personal challenge to cycle from a company called Lumino (British lighting manufacturing company) based in Harlow, Essex to Lumino in Switzerland.

The Lumino to Lumino Challenge is 4-12 September 2015, Yes THIS Friday! 1250km including a total of 14,500m ascent in 9 Days.

I would like to ask you if you would kindly donate to The GravityLight Foundation, a charity who have found an innovative way of generating light from gravity. It takes just seconds to lift a weight that powers the gravity light creating 20 minutes of light on descent. No need to charge, no batteries, no need for sun and can be used time and time again whatever the weather outside.

Just think about what you would spend on a round of drinks this weekend or a bottle of wine. Donate this to Gravity Light knowing you have brought a light into someone's world - what a good feeling that is - Cheers

ALL I HAVE TO DO IS GET ON MY BIKE!
