Hi everybody I'm going to be running the London marathon for Merlin! I need to raise a massive (and slightly intimidating) £2,000 so I’m afraid this is a shameless ask for money… I've worked for Merlin for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say it's a fantastic charity. It may not get the profile or attention that others do- but that's mostly because all the money you donate really does go to where it's needed the most; 96p of every pound donated goes straight to the field. What I think is really amazing about Merlin is that we only work in the toughest places. If you look at the list of places Merlin works, they really are the most fragile and the most dangerous in the world. Our medical experts will do whatever it takes to provide health care to those that need it. I know I sound like I’m regurgitating a mission statement here, but every day I hear about mobile health teams trekking 10 hours across mountains in Afghanistan to reach a village totally cut off during the winter. Or the drugs that have to be delivered by bike across the vast Maniema province, DRC- where it is so remote and difficult to work in that there are very few other NGOs present.  Anyway, the point of this is that I really need you to dig deep and donate to this incredibly worthwhile cause. Anything you could spare would be hugely appreciated. Plus I'm clearly going to need some encouragement if i'm going to keep running all winter long!  Love Freya x
